Languages and translations
Show your booking page and customer communication in multiple languages, depending on who your customer is.
Your booking page can be available in multiple languages. This article explains how to set up languages in the admin, how the language shown to customers is chosen, and how language is used in emails and notifications.
Setting up languages
You can configure booking page languages in Booking Page → Settings, under Booking page languages.
Available languages
Meety currently supports three languages:
- Slovak (sk)
- Czech (cs)
- English (en)
When you create a business, a language is set automatically based on your country. You can add or change languages using the Add language button.
If you need a different language, contact us!
Primary language
The primary language is always the first language in the list. It determines:
- which language the page falls back to when a customer's device uses a language you have not enabled,
- which translation is used as a fallback when text is missing for a given language (for example, if you forgot to translate a service name into Czech, the Slovak translation is used).
To change the primary language, move it to the first position in the list, or choose Set as primary from the row menu. If you set English as primary, the page will be shown in English for customers whose device language is not among your enabled languages.
What is translated automatically and what manually
When you add a language, system text on the booking page is translated automatically — buttons, opening hours, error messages, and similar.
Names and descriptions that you enter (services, categories, About Us, gift cards, membership cards, and more) need to be translated separately. Use Add translation under each text field and enter the translation manually or generate it with AI.
How the customer's language is chosen
When a customer opens the booking page you shared with them and you have enabled multiple languages, they can change the language in the top right corner (or after tapping Menu on mobile). If they do not change it, the language is determined in this order:
1. Device language
If the link does not include lang=, Meety checks the customer's device default language (phone or computer language). If you have that language enabled in your booking page settings, it is used.
2. Primary language
If the device language is not among your enabled languages, the primary language is used — the first language in your settings list.
3. Important — watch for language in the link (lang= in the URL)
A link to your page may already include a language as a lang parameter, for example:
https://meety.sk/book/your-slug?lang=sk
The page will always be shown in that language — regardless of device language or previous visits. This matters when sharing links: if you send someone a link with lang=en, they will see the English version even if their phone is set to Slovak.
When generating a share link, use the link from the Sharing section, which does not include this parameter, or remove it from the link manually.
Switching language on the page
If you have more than one language enabled, a language switcher appears in the booking page header. Customers can change the language at any time during their visit; their choice is remembered on future visits.
If only one language is enabled, the switcher is not shown.
Emails and notifications
The language the customer saw on the booking page when making a reservation is saved to the client record in the database. They then receive the following in that language:
- booking confirmation,
- appointment reminders,
- cancellation or change notifications,
- other communication with the customer.
