Waitlist
How to enable the waitlist for your appointments or group lessons, how it works, and when clients get notified about freed-up slots.
What is the waitlist
The waitlist lets clients join a queue when all appointments for a given service, or all spots in a group lesson, are fully booked.
When an earlier slot becomes available (e.g. after a cancellation or reschedule), Meety automatically:
- finds suitable clients on the waitlist for that service (and optionally a specific team member),
- sends them an email with a link to book the earlier slot,
- and if you have SMS enabled for that communication, sends an SMS notification.
- for group lessons, sends a notification when a spot opens up.
This helps you fill freed-up slots in your calendar or empty spots in group lessons more quickly.
How to enable the waitlist
- Go to Booking page settings.
- Find the Waitlist section.
- Turn on Allow clients to join the waitlist.
- Save settings.
Waitlist behaviour
In settings you can choose how clients are notified when an earlier slot becomes available:
-
Offer the slot to everyone
All clients on the waitlist for that service get a notification at once. First to book gets the slot. -
Prioritise existing clients
Meety first notifies clients who have booked with you before (matched by email or phone).
New clients get the notification later.
How a client joins the waitlist
- The client opens your booking page.
- They select a service or group lesson and see that all slots in their preferred time are taken.
- Instead of Book, they see Join the waitlist.
- They enter:
- optionally phone number (for SMS notifications),
- for a service (not a group lesson), preferred time (any time / morning / afternoon)
- After submitting, they see a confirmation that they have been added to the waitlist.
When notifications are sent
Waitlist notifications are triggered in these situations:
- an existing booking is cancelled,
- a booking is rescheduled so that an earlier slot is freed,
- a spot opens up in a group lesson
Waitlist emails and SMS
You can edit the content of waitlist messages under Reminders and notifications, in the card
Earlier slot available (waitlist).
There you can turn email or SMS notifications on or off.
Practical tips
- Combine the waitlist with group lessons – you can fill freed spots on courses or classes more effectively.
- Watch how clients respond – if many of them book earlier slots when notified, consider adding more capacity or more group lessons.
